Village Automotive Covid Guidelines

Starting June 3rd, 2021, the following Covid guidelines are in effect at all Village locations.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Village Automotive Group (“Village”) wants to assure you of its continued commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment and that we are taking appropriate measures to protect everyone from contracting and spreading COVID-19.

Now that COVID-19 vaccines have been approved for use by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are readily available to the general population, and in accordance with Governor Baker’s recent announcement (effective May 29, 2021), that all businesses in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are able to open without restrictions, we have revised our COVID-19 Workplace Safety Standards accordingly.

These guidelines are based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

All employees are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Social Distancing:

All employees are encouraged to continue social distancing by maintaining distance (at least 6 feet) from others when possible.

Face Masks:

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s May 29, 2021 Advisory Regarding Face Coverings and Cloth Masks states that the wearing of masks is no longer required or recommended for people who are fully vaccinated. We strongly recommend that any employee or visitor who is not vaccinated continue to wear a mask until such time as they are fully vaccinated.  For purposes of this policy, fully vaccinated refers to two weeks following either the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or a single dose of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.

All customer facing employees will have a mask available.  If a customer is wearing a mask, the employee, as a courtesy, should automatically put on their mask to make the client feel comfortable.  If a client then tells the employee that they do not need to wear a mask, the employee can remove their mask at their own discretion.

For test drives, the customer will be asked if they mind having the salesperson accompany them on the test drive.  If the customer is not comfortable with being accompanied on a test drive, the customer will be allowed to take a test drive without the salesperson, using the same protocols that have been in place during the last year.

Hand sanitizer will be available at all customer-facing points in the dealership. Please avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Please cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze; use the inside of your elbow.

Cleaning and Disinfecting:

We will continue to clean and disinfect all common surfaces and high touch surfaces (common area tables and chairs, doorknobs, door handles, faucets, toilets, etc.) throughout the day.

We will disinfect any high touch-point areas in any vehicle that has been delivered for service.  Employees will wear gloves and a mask when delivering a vehicle to a customer that has already been cleaned.

All new, pre-owned and loaner vehicles driven by a customer will have high touch-point areas disinfected after use.

If an employee or visitor to any of our dealerships reports a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, we will follow all current CDC and Massachusetts Department of Public Health guidelines regarding the cleaning and disinfecting of the dealership.

Policy Modification:

Government and public health guidelines regarding COVID-19 and COVID-19 vaccines are changing rapidly as new information becomes available, further research is conducted, and additional vaccines are approved and distributed. Village reserves the right to modify this policy at any time in its sole discretion to adapt to changing circumstances and business needs, consistent with its commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

Policy Administration and Questions:

Village’s Human Resources Department is responsible for administering and enforcing this Covid policy. If you have any questions about this policy or about health and safety issues that are not addressed in this policy, please contact the Human Resources Department.
